CORNWALL — Cornwall continued its dominant postseason run Saturday, defeating Rye in the regional round of the NYSPHSAA playoffs at Cantine Field to remain unbeaten on the season.

The Dragons improved to 23-0 and secured a berth in the NYSPHSAA Class AA state semifinals with another impressive performance on both sides of the ball.

Leading the way was Cornwall’s pitching duo of Charles Rourke and Sage Caesar, who combined to throw a no-hitter and shut down the Rye offense throughout the contest.

With the victory, Cornwall advances to the state semifinals, where it will face Kennedy of Bellmore, Long Island, on June 12 at Mirabito Stadium in Binghamton. A win would send the Dragons to the Class AA state championship game.

Cornwall has yet to suffer a defeat this season and now stands just two victories away from a state title.
